1 production – Music video

Genre- The genre of my music by Paramore is Pop Punk or Indie Rock.

Conventions

  •  Band playing
  • More natural real locations
  • Less polished
  • Handheld cameras and close up on guitars/ musicians and vocalists to show strengh and reality of music
  • Strong serious message within video
  • Fastpased editing

I’ve achieved these in my music video

however I tried to twist the serious message convention

usually the music and video are based on emotional and persoanl stories although with mine I focussed on creating a theme of nature and the issues.

Narrative- My music video

tried to make a statement and focuss more on the message of the music.

 

 

Representation- With Rock music it is generally represented with men as being hard and argressive however with Paramore and how I’ve represented females in my music video, I have allowed them to represent the music.

How are people represented in my video?

The people are dressed in typical/causual clothing.  I wanted to stear away from the materialistic/celebrity/ fancy/ speical dress that you would see in a pop music.

Music video – feedback

1st group – my target audience male and females 15-21

2nd group- random age ranges

Some of the video seemed to cut off the face of singers

yes the start was a good collage

yes as its upbeat

no I think limited effects worked well

Maybe needed long video sequences or storylines

 

dislike: myself lol - I have to watch some more times to see if theres anything else that jumps out!
I did understand narrative/theme: kind of about: strength/people being strong in the face of adversity, fighting their troubles and eventually they’ll win/come out on top??
yh I did think images and music went well together as they emphasised what the theme was about. I think maybe you could’ve tried some more effects, to make it vary abit more, but still really good. i liked the mirror effect at the end – was really cool!

Pros and Cons

In my AS project I was allocated to use Microsoft Publisher to create preliminary.  No effects could be done to actual photograph but I could create and learnt how to create magazine layouts.

I then moved onto Macromedia Fireworks to create main project (music magazine) where I found overlaping and merging photograph with objects easier and more effetive.

Discovered new image editing software Gimp where I found more features that could alter/enhance photographs more.

Digtial camera – Pros- Real life images can be shot, lots of photographys can be taken and automatically transftered to PC.

With the first few seconds of the song the music has a repetative one tone beat

and during the photoshoots secion I captured to get an action shot.

I though that this would go with the pace/beat of the music.

To make it more interesting I decided to put it in reverse!!! this could also reflect the song topic. reversing mistakes..
